The Brownstone Gardener

I have been in the horticulture business since 1989 when I started an indoor plant company in Los Angeles, Simply Green. I soon realized I’d rather be working outdoors. So I bought a van and some used garden equipment and took out an ad in a local Beverly Hills paper. I worked non-stop for the next twenty-eight years.

I took a wonderful class at UCLA: “How to Develop and Manage Your Own Plant Related Business.” I sat next to a lovely gal who was starting her own organic gardening store. We hit it off and I helped her and her business partner install a vegetable garden at Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman’s house. I became their gardener for the next ten years.

I never used their name to further my own career and never over-charged them. Instead they referred me to friends and family and I constantly found my landscaping services in demand, becoming “gardener to the stars.” In 2017 I returned to the state of my birth and worked for two wonderful landscaping companies. I’ve worked for a great many mutual fund managers and love the diversity of the business in the city. I learned the ins and out of gardening here and I am now open for business with my own company.
